The Great Leader

No one, not even his closest rivals or even his bitterest enemies, will deny that the Great Leader has earned his place in the history books.

Under The Great Leader, the country grew strong and proud. It became an economic powerhouse, with buildings that marveled the world and industries that brought goods to every corner of the world. The Great Leader built superhighways, among the best in the world, that spanned the width and breadth of the country. The Great Leader built magnificent stadiums that hosted world-class events and brought athletes competing from across the globe. The Great Leader helped create the country’s first national car, the people’s car, the pride of the nation and a symbol that the Great Country had earned its place among the advanced nations of the world.

Indeed, there was nothing the Great Country could not do. And there was nothing the Great Leader could do wrong, for he was the symbol of the nation’s virtue, strength and greatness, for he was the nation and the nation was he. The Great Leader gave the people a pride once more in the Great Country.

But such pride came with a terrible price.

For in his quest for greatness, the Great Leader and the Great Country lost their way. Greatness that provided the people with abundance left their souls in want. Greed poisoned men’s souls, muting them to servile submission and blinding them to ruthless cruelty.

The rot set in and the Great Leader gradually dismantled, piece by piece, day by day, the basic principles of justice, freedom and democracy, and replaced it with a system that owed allegiance to the Great Leader and the Great Leader alone. And the Great Leader seduced the people and held complete power.

All forms of democratic opposition and dissent were swept away. They used the secret terror police to shame, suppress, blackmail and terrorise all criticism of the Great Leader. They vilified or banned books or newspapers they disliked. They bred a contempt for democracy, a hatred for free expression and they scorned independent thought. And they bred a rabid devotion to the Great Country and a blind loyalty to the Great Leader.

And they built a propaganda monster that swallowed whole the independent media and threw up endless images of the greatness and power and success of the Great Country, and the greatness and power and wisdom of the Great Leader.

And the Great Leader screamed and shouted that the Great Enemy was all around the Great Country and inside the Great Country. And the Great Enemy wanted nothing less than the complete destruction the greatness of the Great Country and the Great Leader. And the Great Enemy was the West, the Jews, the dissidents. Beware the Great Enemy, for he is the enemy of the Great Leader! Fight the Great Enemy, for he is inside and outside the Great Country!

And the Great Leader made the good judges weak and the good laws impotent, the bad judges strong and the evil laws stronger. And around the Great Leader gathered sycophants, flunkies and toadies - men without courage, men without conscience - but full of praise, awe and loyalty to none but the Great Leader. And the rich and the greedy gathered around the Great Leader and praised his strength and lauded his wisdom as their snouts plunged into the ever-flowing trough of prosperity.

And dissent does not flourish on prosperity. And the Great Leader appealed to the people’s baser instincts - unsatiable greed, arrogant pride - and he used their weakness, their fears, their insecurities. And he was successful only because the people were willing to be used, willing to be led. And they gazed at the superhighways, and the magnificent stadiums and the towering monuments as they tried to close their ears to the cries from the prisons and the shouts from the streets.

But there was a testing time for the Great Leader when his Second-in-Command dared to question and dared to want to lead. And the sycophants, flunkies and toadies shamed and vilified that Second-in-Command - he was a homosexual, a traitor, a spy, he was the Great Enemy! And the Great Leader destroyed him, and destroyed his followers. And this was the beginning of the end for the Great Leader, for a kind of madness set in, for the Great Leader believed there was none greater than him, there was nothing the Great Country could not do and there was nothing the Great Leader could do wrong. And this madness made the Great Leader commit more acts of madness and he drove his Great Country into the ultimate madness.

And the Great Leader plunged himself and his country to utter destruction and oblivion.

And that is how the history books shall always remember that Great Leader.

And the Great Leader is Adolf Hitler...
